The Human Development Index (HDI) is a summary measure used in assessing the progress in 3 basic dimensions of human development:
- Healthy and Long life which is measured using life expectancy
- Access to knowledge which is measured using the average number of years of education received by an adult aged 25 or less or through the mean years of schooling
- Standard of Living which is measured by GNI (Gross National Income) per capita expressed in 2005 dollars converted using PPP rates
